March 27th — EASTER —
Easter Basket Blessing and Potluck Breakfast at 10:00 AMIn our UU Hungarian tradition, Easter baskets are not simply for candy. They are intended to give life after a long hard winter and are filled with food for a potluck. We continue our tradition of providing life giving food and honoring our own family’s food traditions
For our service, which includes the potluck meal, please bring a potluck dish that reminds you of your own Easter/Passover/Spring traditions. What does your family serve? Matzo? Eggs? breads?
Please cover the dish or basket, in something decorative.
We uncover the dishes during the service.
For example, I brought a chicken casserole placed in a basket. Along with the casserole, there was a large spoon for serving and shredded cheese. The basket was covered with a fancy tea towel, and ribbons were tied on basket’s handle.

For, when love is felt and fear is known
Hold fast to that which is good,
even if it is only a chunk of concrete
a handful of dirt or bloody scraps of clothing
Big Love is still in the rubble of life,
Love Universal for the departed — cruelly cut down
And, Universal Love seeping into the lives of those
living through tougher times
than they could ever imagine.
For sorrow will someday turn to joy,
all that oppresses our souls will be lifted
and peace prevails.
