Many years ago, I was standing in a church’s kitchen, and smelled something funny.  Walking into the corridor, I lost the scent.  Back in the kitchen, I smelled it again.  Wandering into the corridor a second time, I met the Fire Dept. intently searching.   A fireman explained: “Where there is Oxidation… there’s trouble.”   It got me to thinking about discernment and living our values while detecting trouble.

“Florian Crusius, a distinguished philosopher and theologian of Danzig, Poland, held a public Greek disputation for his students at the University of Konigsberg.  Greek was the language used for advanced scholars in the study of the New Testament.   The Socinians (Unitarians) regarded Crusius as the “prince of philosophers.”
