June 26th   “Bloom Where You Are Planted and A Summer Solstice Flower Communion”
                      Rev Marilyn Richards

The time of the Summer Solstice is the beginning of reliably warm weather, abundant food and  good times ahead.  All will be well again, we know.

The Flower Communion is a Unitarian Universalist communion service.  Everyone is asked to bring a flower.  Any flower you would like.  We celebrate diversity.  Please bring whatever flower you like. For example, little children often like to bring dandelions which are added to the vases. We will have a vase and small bowel to collect the flowers brought to the service on the marble topped table in the Chapel.  When the service begins, the flower vase and bowl are placed next to the chalice on the table during the service.   At the end of the service, everyone takes a different flower home.  There will be extra flowers for those who forgot.

IN CLOSING
from On This Day In Unitarian Universalist History (author: Frank Schulman)

Year 1579
Francis David was brought to trial at Gyulafehervar in Transylvania.  He was sentenced to imprisonment in a nearby dungeon until his assumed death on Nov. 15, 1759.  No body was ever found.

Year 1652
John Biddle was arrested while leading Unitarian worship in London, England.  He was exiled to the Scilly Islands and granted a pension by Oliver Cromwell, the lord protector of England.

Year 1803
William Allergy Channing was ordained as a Unitarian minister at the Federal Street Church and Society in Boston (now the Arlington St. Church).  He was a famous preacher, who’s statue still sits opposite the church in the Boston Public Garden.  Channing served this church from 1803-42, it was the only church that he ever served.
