May 29th    “Just Peace – Just Practices”   by Rev. Marilyn Richards

What criteria could we use to declare Peace?   Just peace is also a personal spiritual practice as well as a guide to socially responsible actions and involvement in our democracy.  There are the quiet spiritual practices and many actions.

                    followed by Strawberry Social at the Athol Historical Society

EVENTS

The last Board of Management Meeting before the Annual Meeting will be May 29, 2016 after Coffee Hour.

Our church’s Annual Meeting will be June 12th at 10:00 AM.

Strawberry Social will be held on June 19th, after Chris Coyle’s worship service at the Athol Historical Society.

A summer potluck is in the works.  Talk to Kathy or Donna.

May 25th is a big day for UUs!

1790
The 17 delegates of the second general organiztion of Universalists met at the Society of Universal Baptists in Philadelphia, and adopted the Universalist Articles of Faith.

1803
Ralph Waldo Emerson was born in Boston, MA into a family of ministers. 

1810
William Henry Channing was born in Boston, MA.  Finding Boston too full of Unitarian ministers, he headed west to seek his fortune with the First Unitariain Church of Cincinnati in 1839.  Channing was called to the Unitarian Chapel in Liverpool, England in 1805, and returned to All Souls Church in Washington DC and as chaplain to the U.S. House of Representatives before the Civil War.  After the Civil War, he settled in England for the rest of his life.

The Remonstrant Synod of Ulster, Ireland was formed for Unitarians the Presbyterian Church.
